Why We Exist

In short, we exist to celebrate minority success in all of the wonderful and positive ways that it takes form.

The thought of a celebration like this came from our founders Toye Falaiye and James Parker one November night in Springfield Virginia. They realized a disappointment that stemmed not from an availability of friends, family, food or libations, but rather a saddened realization of the commonality that each weekend of the year shares. Especially for events so close to the holidays, they wanted to experience something inspired.

Being creators in their own right, they soon realized that the key was to gather people who were ambitious and inspiring, and thus the Black Excellence Ball was born.

The Black Excellence Ball is designed to highlight the achievements of the dreamers and makers that forward their community, and it aims to gather people who have realized high advancements over the years. With this group, we are able to create a community of exception to help propel the culture into the a new year with renewed excitement and progress!
